天然的和重组的 RNasin® 核酸酶抑制剂具有广谱的抑制RNase 活性的性质，包括抑制中性型 (neutral type) 真核 RNase。
该抑制剂的分子量为 50kDa，按 1:1 的比例与 RNase 非共价结合发挥抑制作用。RNasin® Ribonuclease Inhibitor 与 RNase( 如RNase A) 结合的 Ki 值大约是 10-14M。Promega 提供两种不同的抑制剂：天然的 RNasin® Ribonuclease Inhibitor 和重组的 RNasin® Ribonuclease Inhibitor。两种产品均通过离子交换和亲和层析相结合的纯化方法纯化得到。
