1973年，Quality Machining开始在新泽西州克兰福德经营，作为一个制造精密机械零件的工场。大约在同一时间，新泽西州萨默维尔市的皇冠玻璃公司(Crown Glass)在其实验室玻璃器皿系列中添加了扩散电池。在20世纪80年代早期，Quality Machining更名为AMIE Systems，并开始为皇冠玻璃制造机械零件和机电设备。

In 1973 Quality Machining began doing business in Cranford, NJ as a job shop making precision machine parts. At about the same time, Crown Glass in Somerville, NJ added diffusion cells to its line of laboratory glassware. In the early 1980s Quality Machining changed its name to AMIE Systems and began to make machine parts and electromechanical devices for Crown Glass.

In 1994, AMIE Systems became PermeGear and began manufacturing and marketing its own glass diffusion cells and introduced the In-Line Cell, a flow type diffusion cell accurately machined from polychlorotrifluoroethylene. In-Line Cells are used in PermeGear’s ILC07 Automated System.
